Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of real-world diplomacy where students roleplay global leaders and discuss pressing world-wide and fictional issues ranging from climate change and food insecurity to nuclear disarmament and the colonization of Mars. It’s a chance to research, speak, write, and think like a leader.
At Stratford, MUN is open to both middle and high school students, with a goal to challenge students to research deeply, speak persuasively, collaborate, and gain global awareness in committee sessions. We attend local, national, and international conferences throughout the year, from schools like Stanford, Berkeley, Gunn, and Nueva, to bigger events like PACMUN in Hawaii and NHSMUN in New York.
In addition to learning about the responsibilities of a delegate and the process behind creating tangible solutions, our club also provides the opportunity for members to lead their own committees, manage logistics, and shape the delegate experience through our very own conference, SPBMUN, which has welcomed delegations across California.
More than anything, MUN here is about finding your voice, learning how to think globally, and having fun doing it. Remember, “This is your world!”
